Add Character Counters to Your FileMaker Fields

By assigning an OnObjectEnter trigger to a text field, we can capture the current contents of the field and determine how many characters are currently populated. An empty field would return zero. We assign the character limit to the OnObjectEnter parameter, and store that limit in a global variable. We can subtract that character count from the assigned limit to determine how many characters are left, and update this value as users enter data on the OnObjectKeystroke trigger.
